These plugins get installed automatically when you install Resolume and you have either After Effects, Media Encoder or Premiere installed on the same computer. Resolume comes with plugins to export directly to DXV3 from the Adobe packages. Adobe After Effects, Premiere and Media Encoder

It's so simple the files almost encode themselves, but you can read more about the process in Alley's own manual page. This is by far the easiest and free-est option. The easiest way to create DXV encoded files is to use Alley. mov files with DXV encoding Resolume Alley

When a DXV video is played with any other software, it is not rendered by the videocard so there is no performance gain in other software except Resolume. Playback of video files with the DXV codec is only hardware accelerated when played in Resolume. When your source does not have alpha channels, it's best to use the 'No Alpha' options to keep file size down. Choosing one of these options will not magically create a transparent background if the source file does not contain it. Keep in mind that your original file needs to have an alpha channel for the 'With Alpha' options. Just choose any of the 'With Alpha' options to render with included alpha channels. The DXV codec can also store the alpha channel. Your image quality will not be improved at all, the only thing you'll get is bigger files that look exactly the same. Because you are rendering from a DXV2 source, any image artefacts are already rendered into the file. Especially do not re-encode your DXV2 files to DXV3 High Quality. There is no need to re-encode your entire DXV2 library. Only use it on files that have visible artefacts when you render them to Normal Quality. Only if you notice a lot of banding on gradients, should you use the High Quality setting.Įxpect file size to double when encoding to DXV3 HQ! With great power comes great responsibility, so don't use High Quality as your default render setting. We advise to do all encoding at Normal Quality. It is pre-configured to be as fast as possible. Rendering movies with the DXV Codec is extremely easy because there is very little to configure. The DXV codec means you can work on much higher resolutions and frame-rates, with much lower CPU and RAM usage.

Today's video cards have enormous processing power available. The decompression of the video frames is done directly on the video card. Would, therefore, suggest you concentrate your efforts to determine if QT 7 for Windows user codecs are stored in the same location as media codecs for native Windows media players-is the Windows DXV3 codec download stored in the same default location as the QT 7 for Windows codec package? The Resolume DXV Video Codec is a hardware (GPU) accelerated codec. Since the DXV3 codec is compatible with QT 7 on a Mac, I would normally assume it should also be compatible with QT 7 installed on a Windows 7 system. Since you indicate you are operating under Windows 7, assume by "the latest version of QT," you are referring to the QT 7 Player app but you failed to indicate whether or not the software is keyed for "Pro" use or not, whether it is your system or the QT app issuing the "Not Found" error, where Windows stores user installed codecs, and/or if the correct codec package was downloaded/installed on your system.

Not sure if this response will be of much help.Ĭan confirm that the Mac version of the DXV3 codec is compatible with QT 7 Pro player software operating under Sierra OS. Ive downloaded the codec installed it and the latest version of quicktime. Hi i want to render a file through "Adobe after effects" with the codec dxv3 wich i know is through a quicktime asset thing. My 608p60 test conversion had a video data rate in the 105-110 Mbps range. Files encoded with it are QL/QT7 compatible with Sierra OS but convert when opened in QTX.

Never heard of it before this posting but it seems to be provided as part of Resolume's Arena 5 Media Server and/or Avenue 4 VJ Software packages for Mac OS X. In any case, DXV3 appears to be a Resolume "high performance," cross-platform, high resolution multilayer, alpha-channel compatible editing codec that selectively supports video card hardware acceleration. I thought this issue came up previously when they dropped support for the "alternate" QT 7 for Windows codec package for use with QT 7 Pro/MPEG Streamclip installations. Was wondering if you could add more regarding codec storage locations under Windows (i.e., global Windows codec storage vs QT 7 app codec storage). I did find DVX codec via a Google search and it appears to be Windows only. Years ago I did use the DiVX codec with QuickTime Player Pro 6 and 7 but it is tens years out of date. I can't find anything about the 4 letters (dxv3) the original poster asked about.
